Tony nominee and current Porgy and Bess star Joshua Henry will perform a solo concert titled Soul Weakness at the Triad Theater on February 20. Soul Weakness marks Henry’s New York solo concert debut.
Soul Weakness will explore Henry’s notion that “soul music” and music that touches the soul don’t always come from the same genre. The concert will feature music from John Kander to Jill Scott, neo soul to jazz, as well as original compositions by Henry.
Henry is currently starring as Jake in the Broadway revival of Porgy and Bess. He received a Tony nomination for his role as Haywood Patterson in the acclaimed Kander and Ebb musical The Scottsboro Boys. His other credits include Broadway’s American Idiot, In the Heights, City Center’s The Wiz and Godspell at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Henry also appeared as Jennifer Hudson’s love interest in the Sex and the City film.
